Past Presidents Council Establishes Tom Steves Sr. Compass Award
The Arkansas PRSA Past Presidents Council today proudly announces the establishment of the Tom Steves Sr. Compass Award, honoring long-time chapter leader and public relations executive Tom Steves, APR.
Instituted in 2009, the award recognizes Arkansas PRSA members who have an outstanding record of advancing the profession through their commitment to mentorship. Steves, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in May, dedicated more than 35 years to the practice of public relations and served as an inspiration and mentor to countless young professionals.
Call for Nominations is now open through Friday, September 11. The inaugural award will be presented during the 2009 Prism Awards on September 24, where we honor outstanding work in the field of public relations.
Criteria:
· Leadership in guiding and inspiring the careers of entry-level and young PR professionals.
· Perpetuating the highest standards of the profession in a selfless role as a mentor.
· Leadership in the development of the practice of public relations
· Demonstration of the highest standards of ethical conduct
Nomination Guidelines:
· Nominees may not be the current Arkansas PRSA president or a recipient within the past 3 years of the PRSA Crystal Award.
· Membership in Arkansas PRSA is required.
· All members of the Arkansas PRSA chapter are eligible to submit nominations for the award.
· The recipient will be selected by the Past Presidents Council annually, however the PPC is not bound to select a recipient each year.
